playground

We officially dedicated and opened our brand-new kindergarten playground this weekβ€”and it was a moment to remember!

This exciting project became a reality thanks to a $200,000 competitive grant from the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), along with generous contributions from the Ladies of Alderbrook and the Hood Canal Education Foundation. The Foundation is currently selling raffle tickets to continue supporting the projectβ€”thank you to everyone helping make this dream even bigger!

The new playground features an all-weather covered area, three exciting slides, a saucer swing, orca-themed rockers, climbing structures, and much more. The entire play space is set on a rubberized surface designed to improve safety and ensure year-round use, rain or shine.

The dedication ceremony brought smiles all around as School Board members Annie Robbins and Paul Thompson joined in the celebration, along with beloved former kindergarten teacher Rita Behl. Our students lined up eagerly behind the fence, waiting for the ribbon cutting. As soon as the ribbon dropped, the playground came to life with laughter, energy, and squeals of joy as students explored the space for the first time.

We extend a special thanks to Great Western Recreation for their thoughtful design and for pushing hard to complete the project in time for students to enjoy it before the last day of school.

This beautiful new play area is more than just a playgroundβ€”it’s a space where memories will be made, friendships will grow, and joy will echo for years to come.
