Hood Canal School is thrilled to offer two incredible, free music programs for students, thanks to the generous support of our community partners. Whether your child loves to sing or wants to learn guitar, these programs provide a great way to build musical skills and have fun!
Hood Canal Choir – Grades 2-8
In partnership with the Great Bend Center for Music, we are launching a free choir program for students in grades 2-8. No audition is required—just a love for singing!
Rehearsals: Thursdays, 3:15-4:20 PM (starting March 13, 2025)
Location: Mr. Brian’s Kindergarten Room
Free snacks available from 3:00-3:15 PM before rehearsal
Final Performance: A collaborative concert with the Great Bend Chorale during the first weekend of June 2025
Transportation home available on the activity bus
This 14-week program is a fantastic opportunity for students to sing, make friends, and prepare for a special performance.
Made possible by the Hood Canal Educational Foundation, Salish Sea Rotary, and our local levy.
Free Guitar Lessons – Grades 6-8
We’re also offering free individual guitar lessons for students in grades 6-8, taught by professional musician and recording studio owner Chris Eakes.
How It Works:
Lessons take place twice per week for 20 minutes during middle school elective classes.
The first session runs for six weeks, starting the week of March 10, 2025 (12 lessons total).
If interest exceeds available spots, students will be selected by lottery.
Guitars:
School-provided guitars (appropriately sized) will be available.
Students may bring their own guitar, and Chris will check if it’s suitable.
A limited number of guitars will be available for home checkout.
A huge thank you to Hoodstock and our local levy for making this opportunity possible!
