Outdoor Education

BOOTS is an experiential educational program at Hood Canal School for our Junior High students. The purpose of BOOTS is to guide students through a progressive sequence of challenging initiatives to help build self-confidence and to increase self-esteem.

Program goals:

  1. Increase attendance
  2. Educational achievement
  3. Reduce discipline referrals

Those goals are achieved through the following curriculum components:

  • Experiential education
  • Adventure-based education
  • Wilderness experiences
  • Community service projects
  • Vocational modules
  • High School mentorship
